Presenting a rare vault find, that we literally have been waiting years to get our hands on. This is an "old pawn" vintage sterling silver, Turquoise, Onyx, Mother of Pearl and Coral inlay Squashblossom Necklace and matching earrings set, believed to be of Zuni origin. One of our local Arizona dealer partners has had this in their vault for close to 2 decades, and we've been eyeing it for most of that time. They took it on trade, and opted to keep it rather than sell it - this is not uncommon when they take in something they like more than they need the money they'd get from selling it. They finally decided to let it go, we're the lucky recipients, and we're proud to now make it available on our site.
It's a full matching necklace and earrings set. It does feature the Sterling hallmark, but we cannot locate a maker's mark. This is not uncommon, but we unfortunately cannot determine the precise origin, only that the design and elongated turquoise settings lead us to believe it's of Zuni origin.
The necklace features a big centerpiece that measures over 2.5" in diameter, and the carved and inlaid MOP, turquoise and onyx settings extend all the way up the necklace. Maximum wearable length is 21", but the hook clasp can be affixed to any link on the necklace shortening the length down to as little as 15".
The earrings measure .85" in diameter across only the drop settings, and a full 1.8" tall including the large lobe bales.
Please note that we have not polished or cleaned this, so the sterling still shows a nice vintage patina.
