This is a beautiful solid 24K gold replica of the famous 1252 Florentine coin, set in a solid 18K Yellow Gold bezel, fully hallmarked.
To be clear, this is not an original 1252 Florentine coin, but a replica made of solid 24K .999 gold, fully hallmarked as .999. These coins are famous amongst numismatists, but the originals are expensive to say the least, making replicas like these - which have been done dozens of times by country mints across Europe - much easier to attain.
It features St. John the Baptist on one side, and the Fleur de Lis symbol of Florence on the other side.
Total size is 1.2" (including slider bail) x .75", and total weight is 7.6 grams. The majority of the weight is in the coin itself, but it's impossible to determine the weight allocation between 24K and the 18K bail. Even if we assume a 50/50 split, the pendant is worth over $970 in just melt value alone, for the gold content.
